Microsoft Power BI

Turn Your Data Into Actionable Insights.

Finance has one set of numbers in Excel. Sales has another. Operations tracks something else entirely. Qixas builds Power BI dashboards on top of Business Central — one source of truth, real-time updates, and answers your team can find without waiting for IT.

The platform

Create a Data-Driven Culture with Power BI

Power BI is Microsoft's unified platform for self-service and enterprise business intelligence. Connect to hundreds of data sources, build interactive visualizations, and embed insights into the apps your team uses every day — from Business Central role centers to Teams channels to Excel workbooks. No SQL skills required.

Uncover Insights with AI

Turn your Business Central and CRM data into interactive visuals with AI-powered analysis tools. Copilot generates reports from plain-English questions, detects anomalies automatically, and surfaces trends your team would otherwise miss.

Bring All Your Data Together

Connect Business Central, Dynamics 365 Sales, spreadsheets, SQL databases, and cloud services into a single governed data model. One source of truth replaces conflicting spreadsheets and siloed departmental reports.

Turn Insights into Impact

Embed Power BI reports directly into Business Central role centers, Teams channels, SharePoint sites, and PowerPoint presentations. Insights appear where your team already works — no context switching required.

Empower Every Team

Self-service reporting lets finance, sales, and operations build their own dashboards without waiting for IT. Governed datasets ensure everyone works from the same trusted numbers while exploring data independently.

Share Insights Everywhere

Publish reports with granular sharing controls, automate email subscriptions on daily or weekly schedules, and generate pixel-perfect paginated reports for board packages and regulatory filings.

Govern and Protect Your Data

Row-level security ensures users see only what they are authorized to access. Role-based workspace controls, sensitivity labels, and end-to-end encryption meet enterprise compliance requirements across your analytics estate.

See What You Can Do with Power BI

From financial close to shop floor — interactive dashboards tailored to every function in your organization, all connected to your Business Central data.

Financial Dashboards & Reporting

  • Multi-currency consolidation and intercompany elimination for complex financial structures
  • Budget vs. actual waterfall charts with drill-down to transaction-level detail

Sales Pipeline & Revenue Analytics

Unify CRM pipeline data with ERP revenue actuals in one view — opportunity status, forecast accuracy, and customer profitability without reconciling two systems.

  • Pipeline by stage with probability-weighted forecasting and deal-level drill-down
  • Rep performance dashboards tracking quota attainment, win rate, and average deal size
  • Customer segmentation by revenue, margin, growth rate, and lifetime value
  • Revenue recognition tracking aligned with contract milestones and payment schedules
  • Territory and product-line profitability heat maps showing where margin is strongest

Inventory & Supply Chain Intelligence

Visualize inventory health across every location. Spot slow-moving stock before it ties up cash, optimize reorder points, and track supplier performance.

  • Inventory position by location and warehouse with valuation and cost method tracking
  • ABC analysis and aging metrics to flag slow-moving and obsolete inventory
  • Safety stock optimization based on demand variability and supplier lead times
  • Supplier scorecard dashboards measuring on-time delivery, quality, and cost trends
  • Seasonal demand forecasting to improve procurement accuracy and reduce carrying costs

Manufacturing & Production Efficiency

Real-time visibility into throughput, waste, and bottlenecks. Planners see schedule adherence at a glance and adjust before delays cascade.

  • Equipment utilization, throughput, and schedule adherence metrics in real time
  • Quality and defect tracking with SPC charting and root cause trend analysis
  • Material consumption variance between standard and actual with drill-through to production orders
  • Maintenance and downtime tracking to optimize equipment reliability and schedules

Why Qixas

Why Qixas for Power BI

Anyone can connect Power BI to a data source. The hard part is building dashboards people actually trust and use. Most projects fail not because of the tool, but because of data quality issues, analytics built in isolation, or environments too complex for non-technical teams. Qixas solves this because we understand Business Central at a deep level — and we design for adoption from day one.

Qixas team meeting with mid-market leaders to plan a Power BI rollout

Business Central native expertise — deep knowledge of GL posting logic, dimension architecture, and multi-entity consolidation patterns that generic BI consultants miss

Data quality first — we identify and fix data issues early, building transformation logic that surfaces problems rather than hiding them behind pretty charts

User-centered design — dashboards designed with the people who will use them, not just the executives who requested them, ensuring they answer real daily questions

Sub-second performance — star schema data models, incremental refresh, and composite models that keep reports fast as your data grows

Self-service enablement — governed datasets and templates that let your analysts extend reports independently while maintaining a single source of truth

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions, Answered

How does Power BI connect to Business Central?
Power BI connects to Business Central through a native connector that supports both cloud and on-premises deployments. For cloud BC, you authenticate with your Microsoft 365 credentials and Power BI discovers your pages, reports, and APIs automatically. For optimized analytical performance, we build custom API pages in BC that expose exactly the data your dashboards need — keeping analytical logic in BC where it can be maintained and avoiding performance impact on live transaction tables.
What does Power BI cost? Is it included in our Microsoft 365 license?
Power BI Desktop is free. Power BI Pro — which adds sharing, collaboration, and scheduled refresh — is included in Microsoft 365 E5 or available standalone at approximately $14 per user per month. Power BI Premium Per User at $24 per user per month adds enterprise-scale features like larger datasets and AI capabilities. For organizations with many report viewers, Microsoft Fabric capacity licensing can be more cost-effective. We analyze your user count, data volume, and requirements to recommend the right licensing mix.
Can Power BI replace our existing financial reports?
For day-to-day management reporting, yes. Power BI handles interactive dashboards, variance analysis, trend analysis, and ad-hoc exploration exceptionally well. For formal financial statements, regulatory filings, and pixel-perfect printed reports, Power BI Paginated Reports covers those requirements. We typically recommend both: interactive dashboards for daily decision-making and drill-down, plus paginated reports for month-end board packages and compliance.
How long does a Power BI implementation take?
An initial set of executive dashboards covering financial performance, sales, and operations typically takes 4 to 6 weeks. A more comprehensive program with department-specific dashboards, self-service datasets, and embedded analytics in Business Central runs 8 to 12 weeks. We deliver iteratively — highest-impact dashboards ship first so you see value immediately while we build out the rest.
What if our Business Central data quality is not great?
That is far more common than people realize. During discovery, we systematically identify quality issues — inconsistent dimension values, missing codes, duplicate records, incorrect posting logic. For each issue, we determine whether to handle it in the Power BI data model (for historical data) or implement fixes in BC (for ongoing prevention). Power BI often becomes a catalyst for data quality improvement because it makes problems visible that were previously hidden in manually assembled Excel reports.
